Clement King Owiredu Foundation (CKOF)
The Clement King Owiredu Foundation (CKOF) is a registered humanitarian non-profit in Ghana dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children affected by severe burns and related medical trauma. Inspired by the miraculous survival of Clement King Kwaakye Owiredu, the Foundation provides medical, financial, and psychosocial support to children and families facing life-threatening conditions.
OUR STORY
The CK Owiredu Foundation was established through a private endowment by Pastor Richard Owiredu, inspired by a deeply personal and life-altering experience.
The Foundation was born out of the challenges faced when his six-year-old son, Clement King Kwaakye Owiredu, suffered severe, high-degree burns that threatened his life. During this critical period, the family was confronted with intense emotional distress, financial pressure, and uncertainty. Under Ghana’s cash-and-carry healthcare system, access to urgent medical care required immediate payment, and the overwhelming cost of multiple surgeries placed an enormous burden on the family. Fear of losing a child, coupled with financial hardship, created a moment of profound helplessness.

At a time when support was most needed, many friends and loved ones withdrew, leaving a young child’s life hanging in the balance. This painful experience revealed the harsh realities faced by many families when medical emergencies strike—especially those without adequate financial resources or support systems.
Out of this hardship emerged a renewed sense of purpose and compassion. The CK Owiredu Foundation is driven by the firm belief that health goes beyond physical treatment alone. It encompasses dignity, access, emotional well-being, and the right of every individual—regardless of socio-economic background—to take control of their health and recovery.
Across communities in Ghana, countless individuals struggle to improve their health due to limited access to resources, financial constraints, and non-medical challenges that directly affect recovery and quality of life. The CK Owiredu Foundation seeks to address these gaps by providing supplementary financial support that enables beneficiaries to meet both medical and non-medical needs essential to holistic healing.
By empowering individuals and families with additional resources, the Foundation enables people to take an active role in their health, leading to improved outcomes and restored hope. Through collaboration with grantees, healthcare providers, and partners, the CK Owiredu Foundation is committed to building healthy, resilient, and vibrant communities—where every child and every individual has the opportunity to survive, heal, and thrive.
